Powerful Creators

I have spent time exploring many different spiritual modalities, and one of those was Abraham Hicks. They always spoke about humans being “powerful creators” who are solely responsible for their reality. And, there are a lot more conversations today about manifestation, creating the life of your dreams, and being personally responsible for the way your life turns out. This puts a lot of pressure on us. We are the sole creators of our life and happiness, so what does that mean when things go wrong? What if we just can’t figure it out? That’s when the intrusive thoughts and feelings start to kick in. Why can’t I do this? This is a me thing. Other people can figure it out. I want what they have. Why can’t I create this? If only I could figure out how to have the mindset of a multi-millionaire!

Talk about self-condemnation and striving for a life that is not ours. We all have agency and need to take action, and we can and should take steps towards our dreams. But the “manifesting” of things that others have because we see a visual of a life we “want” may not be the right path for us. Instead, we need to focus on ourselves, our own world , and our individual guidance to know what is truly meant for us. Yes, we are powerful creators, but we are not doing it alone. We are spiritual beings who receive help, and we can tune in to the loving guidance provided to us. If we can learn to perceive these loving messages, we are more clearly able to follow those little nudges down our own special path.

We must realize our ideas of a successful life may be completely different than what life has in store for us. We can set our sights on a million dollars and forcefully plug along to “make it happen,” but with a better knowing of what drives and excites us, we can better understand ourselves and accept own special position on this Earth. I am not saying don’t go for your dreams… you should. But, go after your dreams, not the dreams of others. We all have a unique purpose. Enough worrying about getting it right or hating ourselves for not doing more.

Seek help from others who have walked in the direction of things that inspire you, but strive for connection and learning, not a replication of what they have or things they’ve done. Instead, we should be asking ourselves, how do I attune to the things that truly bring me joy? Because that is what life is all about, finding connection and the things the light us up. If it doesn’t feel good along the way, maybe it’s not the best path for us. We can find our unique purpose if we don’t try to force an outcome we think will make us happy.

Prayer is another powerful tool of discovery. When we ask for help, we open ourselves up to guidance and learn what’s in our best interests. Listening and hearing is the tricky part. We can tune into that part of ourselves that is part of the divine, because my belief is that God is trying to lead us all down the individual path that we have helped choose for this life. Of course that part is up for debate!
