Back to Blogging
I started 2026 with the goal to read the entire Bible and document the journey throughout the year on this blog. I made it through month two before completely hitting a wall. Literally, I could not find the effort to pick my books back up from inside my bedside stand. With that, my writing took a pause as well. I had committed to my Bible Study being the focus of my blog this year, so when that stopped, I lost the direction on my writing and was unsure about picking it back up.
I started exploring other methods of creative outlet, and tried out Substack. I wrote a few posts there and encountered a nice community of people who loved to write. My feed was filled with a lot of positive content and people, which I did like. I see the appeal of having an ecosystem of people ready to read your work. But for me, it still felt like social media — chasing likes and engagement. However, this did make me realize I was still searching for a way to write as a creative outlet.
So… back to blogging! I realized I can and should invest in my website and blog that I have already spent so much time creating. Why not write here instead? (There is the thought that no one will see this content, since it’s buried in a website without that ecosystem.) But that is fear talking and holding me back. Who cares? It’s not my job to worry about people seeing this content, because I am still doing what I feel called to do and enjoy.
We spent Father’s Day weekend at one of the rivers here in Humboldt County, and what a beautiful day it was with family, friends, and great weather! A new (to me) friend joined, and she mentioned my blog and that she enjoyed reading it. How special! What a positive encounter and an encouragement to continue writing again. She made a good insight, “the time passes anyway!”
My commitment earlier this year was a monthly post, and that is reasonable enough to accomplish — it’s definitely a good place to start. A schedule helps keep me accountable — it was weekly last year, and I felt good about sticking to that. So, consider this my June post, and expect more throughout the year.
Thanks for being here! <3
